Marine coolers are a necessity for all boaters and recreational anglers to preserve food, beverages, bait and of course, FISH!
Some of the better constructed marine coolers also provide extra seating in the boat by doubling as seats or benches (depending on the size of the cooler), with attachable seat cushions available as an accessory. During the ‘season’ some marine and boat supply stores even stock the cushions for coolers, usually a special order item, as well as deck lockdowns or pads, which keep the cooler from sliding around on the boat deck.
Other convenient features found on various marine coolers on the market are built-in cutting boards, fish measuring scales, rope and wood handles, and wheels for easier transportation.
When shopping for a boat cooler, keep in mind that it pays to invest in the best quality cooler that you can afford. Coolers designed especially for boating are built for the harsh outdoor conditions with features such as rust-resistant hardware and UV protection to resist fading, warping, cracking and peeling.
Many of the newer coolers, like Coleman’s Xtreme and Igloo’s MaxCold, promise to retain cold temperatures for up to five days!
